Cheesebread

Cheesebread is a soft, slightly sweet bread filled with cheese, often enjoyed as a snack or breakfast. Its combination of fluffy bread and cheesy goodness makes it a popular bakery item.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast (1 packet)

  • 1 cup warm milk (around 110°F or 43°C)

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 cup grated cheese (cheddar, or your preferred type)

  • Extra cheese for topping (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.

    • Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a sticky dough forms.

    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  2. First Rise:

    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1–2 hours until it doubles in size.

  3. Shape the Cheesebread:

    • Punch down the dough and divide it into 8–10 portions. Flatten each piece, add a small handful of grated cheese inside, and seal it.

    • Shape the dough into balls or logs, placing them on a greased or lined baking sheet.

  4. Second Rise:

    • Cover the dough and let it rise for another 30–45 minutes until slightly puffed.

  5. Add Cheese Topping (Optional):

    • Brush the tops with milk or melted butter and sprinkle extra cheese over them.

  6. Bake:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

    • Bake the cheesebread for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. Serve:

    • Allow them to cool slightly before serving warm and melty!
