Cheesebread is a soft, slightly sweet bread filled with cheese, often enjoyed as a snack or breakfast. Its combination of fluffy bread and cheesy goodness makes it a popular bakery item.
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
2 1/4 tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
1 cup warm milk (around 110°F or 43°C)
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
1 cup grated cheese (cheddar, or your preferred type)
Extra cheese for topping (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1–2 hours until it doubles in size.
Shape the Cheesebread:
Punch down the dough and divide it into 8–10 portions. Flatten each piece, add a small handful of grated cheese inside, and seal it.
Shape the dough into balls or logs, placing them on a greased or lined baking sheet.
Second Rise:
Cover the dough and let it rise for another 30–45 minutes until slightly puffed.
Add Cheese Topping (Optional):
Brush the tops with milk or melted butter and sprinkle extra cheese over them.
Bake:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake the cheesebread for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve:
Allow them to cool slightly before serving warm and melty!
